San Antonio College distributed food donations from the San Antonio Food Bank during a pop-up market on campus at Parking Lot 10 Friday afternoon.
The college partners with the food bank to serve those in need with occasional pop-up markets, and Student Advocacy Center officials and volunteers distribute the donations.

The pop-up markets allow visitors to drive up and have volunteers place the food in their cars. SAC Interim President Dr. Francisco Solis was among the event’s volunteers.
The San Antonio Food Bank is a nonprofit providing millions of pounds of food to more than 500 organizations in Southwest Texas. Anyone interested in volunteering with the pop-up markets can sign up online or simply show up to an event. People can pre-register by calling (210) 431-8326 or sign up in person from 1-3 p.m.

In addition to the monthly pop-ups, the Student Advocacy Center has food pantries available for students twice a month. Students can also grab free snacks and drinks daily.
The center also opens a “Magic Closet” for students and staff who are in need of clothes twice a month.

If students are struggling mentally, the center also offers counseling and case management with assistance to sign up for SNAP, WIC, or Medicaid for low-income students.
Emergency aid is provided for students who need help and support for housing, health care and childcare.

Those looking for more information about the pop-up markets, food pantries and other Student Advocacy Center resources can call the helpline at (210) 486-1111.
