Bexar County voters approved a historic bond measure Saturday that will bring $987 million into the Alamo Colleges District (ACD) to support significant capital improvements through 2029.

San Antonio ranks among the fastest-growing regions in the United States, and student enrollment across the five-college district is projected to reach 100,000 by fall 2029, according to a release form the district. The bond measure will fund new and expanded facilities throughout the district with a focus on high-demand fields such as engineering, healthcare, information technology, cybersecurity, construction trades and transportation.

“This is a transformative moment for the Alamo Colleges and the future of Bexar County,” said Dr. Clint Kingsbery, chair of the Alamo Colleges Board of Trustees. “It will allow us to achieve our moonshot of partnering to end poverty through education and training.”

Alamo Colleges District Chancellor Dr. Mike Flores emphasized the importance of the projects in preparing students for high-skill, high-wage careers while fueling regional economic growth.

“We remain committed to delivering on the promise voters entrusted us with — to expand access, strengthen the workforce and build stronger communities,” Flores said in the press release.
