San Antonio College’s Men’s basketball team fell to 3-5 on the 2025-26 season Wednesday, losing to Northeast Lakeview College (NLC) 92-78 at NLC’s Llano Wellness Center.
The Armadillos were competitive early before the game got away from them late in the first half.
The Nighthawks’ size and athleticism posed some issues for SAC and led to a lot of contested shots.
“We started off pretty good, but then we kind of got away from running our offense. We were trying to do it one-on-one,” SAC Head Coach Jimmy Alcala told the Sundial. “When the score started getting away, everybody started pressing, trying to make something happen.”
The Armadillos struggled to generate quality shots against the Nighthawks’ defense.
“Running our plays, we get into one-on-one outside chirping, talking teams back and forth. You just can’t do that. You’ve got to run our plays, play together, pass, keep passing the ball for the better shot. There’s always a good shot, but there’s always better.” SAC Guard Demetrice Mims told the Sundial.
SAC SF Reginald “Jack” Stewart led the way for the Armadillos with 30 points.
“They gave me a lot of one-on-one [defense], a lot of free space, so I just took advantage of it and stayed consistent throughout the whole game,” Stewart told the Sundial.
The Armadillos will take on the Northwest Vista College Wildcats Wednesday at 8 p.m. at SAC’s Candler Physical Education Center.
