San Antonio College’s men’s basketball team fell to 0-2 Wednesday, losing to Austin Community College’s Riverbats 85-79 at the Austin Recreation Center.
The Armadillos moved the ball well and had good hustle and strong defense at times, but they fell short in the end.
SAC Head Coach Jimmy Alcala said his team was missing one key element in the game: communication.
“I make the same complaint about rebounding, about making some passes, I’m looking for combinations,” Alcala told his team.
SAC Point guard Dominic Guerra said the Armadillos started off strong but lost focus in the second half as SAC turned the ball over more than five times.
SAC Point Guard James Ngare added that the team needs to play with more aggression.
The fourth quarter was packed with free throws and technical fouls, and although Armadillos pulled closer toward the end, they ultimately lost 85-79.
We can make it happen,” Alcala told his team after the game. “We’re just too much of a good team.”
San Antonio College will look to bounce back against the Palo Alto Palominos on the road this Wednesday.
