SAC Students took advantage of a financial literacy workshop Wednesday in the Loftin Student Center Fiesta Room.
Students Destiny Juarez, a business development account manager with Credit Human, taught budgeting skills at the workshop, introducing a spending plan worksheet and allowing students to assess spending habits. Juarez provided tips on healthy spending and strategies for saving effectively.
“These workshops are crucial for empowering students to take control of their finances,” Juarez said. “What we teach here is not always covered in high school. It’s an opportunity for students to learn and apply this knowledge to their financial journeys.”
Juarez emphasized the importance of financial workshops on college campuses, aiming to leave students with a greater understanding of personal finance and available resources to manage their money.
“My biggest takeaway was developing a savings plan and a budget,” said SAC sophomore Judy Maynard. “I recommend students attend other financial workshops like this. No matter how much you know about finances, there are always better ways to spend effectively.”
After the workshop, students participated in a Kahoot game and received raffle prizes.
For those interested in expanding their knowledge of financial literacy, the library will host a Fraud Awareness and Protection event on April 16 on the fourth floor of the Moody Learning Center.
