Student entrepreneurs promoted their businesses and sold products at San Antonio College’s 2nd Entrepreneur Fair April 10 in the college’s mall area.

Various booths and tables featured jewelry, crocheted items, recycled goods, handmade bluetooth speakers and a photo booth. SAC’s Student Enrichment Center hosts the fair to encourage students and offer them the experience of selling and promoting their products in person.

Sandra Huron-Dixon, a former SAC photography student, featured her 360 photo booth, encouraging students to try out the service. A 360 photo booth features a camera attached to a long metal arm that rotates around a platform where guests stand, dance or pose. The booth catpures a slow-motion video, Boomerang or regular video.

Huron-Dixon began her business, Our Memories Photo Booth, in the early 2000’s to bring in extra income.

“In the beginning, it was just a hobby,” Huron-Dixon told SAC Student News. “After the recession, we started building it up, and now we do baby showers, weddings, birthdays and a lot of quinceaneras.”

Huron-Dixon’s daughter and grandson helped her demonstrate her photo booth services at the fair. Huron-Dixon said she hopes to pass the photo booth business to her children and grandchildren.

A few tables down. Nate Morales, owner and founder of Elite Custom Speakers, sold customizable wooden Bluetooth speakers. Morales said he gained experience and expertise in woodworking through online forums, research and practice.

“Most speakers use a lithium-ion battery,” Morales said. “I use a lithium polymer battery because it lasts longer and is more stable.”

Morales said he can convert most items into speakers. He has converted picture frames, a plastic table and a bar stool. He even installed a speaker system inside a converted horse trailer.

Angel Venegas, a Digital Art student, stood nearby in a bright floral Hawaiian shirt that matched the art featured on his table. Venegas makes bright, eclectic digital art creations under the name Chubby Bunny, selling his products on Facebook Marketplace and Offerup.

“I love art,” Venegas said. “I have always been interested in art.”

Venegas began making art in high school and got into drawing as a sophomore. He said he enjoys experimenting with different mediums and has dabbled in sewing, making plush toys, and jewelry construction.

Venegas hopes to sell his art through Etsy and dreams of becoming a name brand.

“I want my art and skills to be known,” he told SAC Student News.
