The Armadillos remain winless this season, after falling to the Palo Alto Palominos 91-70 at Abraham Kazen Middle School Wednesday.
The Armadillos, now 0-3, struggled against Palo Alto’s defense, turning the ball over 19 times.

SAC’s women’s basketball Head Coach Abel Castillo, who filled in for an ill Jimmy Alcala, the men’s head coach, emphasized to the players the importance of defensive communication.
“We got to collectively play more as a team,” Castillo said. “There was a lot of defensive failure and not coming from the help side.”

SAC Guard Kamirin Williams said his team had no answers for the Palominos in the second half.
“They hit a good halftime talk and came out and … just kind of gapped it from there,” Williams told the Sundial after the game.

SAC had no trouble getting to the foul line but shot 56% from the stripe, going 28 for 50 on the night.
SAC Point Guard Reggie Steadman pointed out that if the Armadillos had made all their free throws, the outcome would have been much different.

“We also had too many turnovers, especially in the first half,” he said. “If we can control both of those, then every game is within reach.”
The Armadillos hope to rebound with their first win against the Northwest Vista Wildcats at Huisache Hall Oct. 15 at 8 p.m.
