The Armadillos suffered their first loss of the season Wednesday night, falling to 2-1 after losing to Palo Alto College 59–36 at Abraham Kazen Middle School on “Pink Out” night, an observance for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Palo Alto’s smothering defense dominated SAC from the start, and the Armadillos turned the ball over 22 times in the first half. The Palominos put up 38 points to SAC’s 8 in the first.

“We could’ve done a lot better,” SAC Guard Neveah Sosa told the Sundial. “We were slowing down everything; we should’ve been kicking the ball out more.”
The Armadillos’ offense continued to struggle in the second half, making just three shots in the third quarter. SAC was down 46–15 going into the fourth.

SAC added 11 more points in the fourth while Palo Alto kept pace, closing the game at 59–26.
SAC Point Guard Alexis Castillo led SAC’s offense with seven points and Point Guard Angel Carrisalez added six.

SAC Forward Michelle Reyes said poor communication was a big factor in the loss.
“Communicating with the girls on defense, when to shift, and just saying in the middle,” are areas for improvement, Reyes said.

The Armadillos will look to bounce back from the loss when they take on Northwest Vista College Oct. 15 at Huisache Hall.
