The Lady Armadillos basketball team beat the Northeast Lakeview College (NLC) Nighthawks 64-58 Wednesday at NLC’s Llano Wellness Center.

The SAC women improved to 7-1 for the 2025-26 season, opening the spring semester with wins in their first two games.

With many steals, fouls, rebounds, and turnovers, the game was hard-fought from start to finish. The Armadillos made 10 3-point shots.

“They played us very aggressively, and anytime you play aggressively, it changes how players play, “SAC Head Coach Abel Castillo told the Sundial. “That actually helped them; that’s what made the game so close.”

With their high energy and aggression, the Nighthawks never gave up.

The SAC women’s only loss this season came against Palo Alto College in October. The  Palominos took SAC down in a 59-39 blowout. Since then, the Armadillos have remained perfect.

“It felt like every five seconds there was a foul being called, but I think at the end of the day we have to work through it,” SAC Forward Nevaeh Sosa said. “We were all getting tired, so we were getting a little lazy, but we pulled through.”

Sosa helped propel her team to their triumph by hitting three 3-point shots and 13 points overall.

The Armadillos’ offense surged in the third quarter as the team put up 25 points, with SAC Guard Kayli “Angel” Carrisalez accounting for 10 of them. The Nighthawks picked up the pace in the fourth quarter, closing the gap but ultimately falling short.

The Armadillos will meet the Northwest Vista College Wildcats Wednesday at 6 p.m. at SAC’s Candler Physical Education Center.
