San Antonio College music students performed for a crowd of family members, peers and supporters during a choir concert in the McAllister Auditorium lobby Wednesday afternoon.
“We are sharing songs we’ve loved for a long time,” music professor and director of ensembles Cindy Sanchez told SAC Student News.
Chamber singers opened the concert, and the show concluded with the concert choir. Choir members Sophia Quevedo, Esther Fielding and Tristen Melendez pulled extra duty as members of a string quartet.
Students from Music Program Coordinator Kerri Morgan’s music appreciation class attended the concert to support their peers.
Chamber singer Moses Ortiz performed a solo of James Taylor’s “Is That the Way You Look?” And Megan Achterhof and Trenton Storms closed the show with a performance of “This is Me” from “The Greatest Showman.”
“I enjoyed the concert,” music student and ukulele player Rachel Hopper’s mother told SAC Student News. “My daughter wants to teach music.”
Music student Paulina Jaramillo also performed in front of her mother.
“I loved it, very much.” Jaramillo’s mother said. “Mrs. Sanchez and the music department staff are very patient and helpful with students who are just starting out.”
