San Antonio College’s women’s basketball team opened their spring season with a dominant victory, beating Austin Community College 60-41 at the Candler Physical Education Center Wednesday.
Point guard Angel Carrisalez led the way with 21 points, and shooting guard Nevaeh Sosa added 12. SAC’s defense smothered ACC with consistent pressure, forcing many turnovers and contested shots.
Strong ball movement allowed SAC to build a big lead in the third quarter.
“The biggest keys were passing and pushing the ball, and we were being aggressive on defense,” Head Coach Abel Castillo told the Sundial.
The Armadillos led 25-18 at halftime and pulled away in the second half.
“We were talking a lot to each other, and we were fixing our little mistakes,” Sosa told the Sundial. “We were having a lot of good shots that were building up our energy.”
Carrisalez talked about the importance of ball movement and how they can sustain it throughout the rest of the semester.
“I feel like it’s just team chemistry. A lot of practice,” Carrisalez told the Sundial.
Coach Castillo discussed areas of improvement for his squad.
“We need to box out a little bit better, get a little bit more discipline on our fouls,” he said.
The Armadillos are now 6-1 for the 2025-26 season and will face Northeast Lakeview on the road Wednesday.
